I
1 On the following day, the edges of the asphalt concrete pavement, and the outer edge of the I
2 casting shall be painted with hot asphalt cement. Asphalt concrete shall then be placed and
3 compacted with hand tampers and a patching roller. Asphalt concrete and cement concrete
I
4 shall be considered incidental to the unit price of the structure being adjusted.
5
6 The completed patch shall match the existing paved surface for texture, density, and
111
7 uniformity of grade. The joint between the patch and the existing pavement shall then be
8 carefully painted with hot asphalt cement or asphalt emulsion and shall be immediately
9 covered with dry paving sand before the asphalt cement solidifies. I 10
11 The inside throat of the structure shall be thoroughly mortared and plastered.
12 I 13 7-05.3(3) Connections to Existing Manholes
14 Section 7-05.3(3) is deleted and replaced with the following:
15
16 (City of Everett GSP)
I
17 The Contractor shall verify invert elevations prior to construction. Discrepancies in invert
18 elevations shall be immediately brought to the attention of the Engineer. The crown elevation
19 of laterals shall be the same as the crown elevation of the incoming pipe unless specified.
20 The existing base shall be reshaped to provide a channel equivalent to that specified for a
21 new manhole.
22
I
23 The Contractor shall excavate completely around the manhole to prevent unbalanced
24 loading. The manhole shall be kept in operation at all times and the necessary precautions
25 shall be taken to prevent debris or other material from entering the sewer, including a tight I 26 pipeline bypass through the existing channel, if required.
27
28 The Contractor shall core drill, line drill or wall saw an opening to match the size of pipe to I 29 be inserted. Where line drilling is the method used, the drilled holes must be interconnected.
30 Line drilling shall be accomplished by the use of a small core drill. Jackhammer or rotary
31 hammer shall not be used. All openings must provide a minimum of 1" and a maximum of 2" I
32 clearance around the circumference of the pipe. Upstream pipes, except PVC pipe,
33 penetrating the walls of manholes shall be placed with the bell facing out such that the bell is
34 placed snug against the outside wall of the structure as the angle of penetration allows. Pipe,
35 except PVC pipe, leaving or entering manholes shall be provided with a flexible joint within
I
36 1/2 of a pipe diameter, or 12", whichever is greater.
37
38 All pipes except CMP and PVC pipe entering or leaving the manhole shall be provided with
39 flexible joints within Y2 of a pipe diameter or 12", whichever is greater, from the outside face
40 of the manhole structure and shall be placed on firmly compacted bedding, particularly within
41 the area of the manhole excavation which normally is deeper than that of the sewer trench. I 42 Special care shall be taken to see that the openings through which pipes enter the manhole
43 are completely and firmly rammed full of non-shrink grout to ensure water tightness. (See
44 Section 9-03.22 of these Special Provisions for non-shrink grout).
45
46 PVC pipe connecting to manhole shall be provided with a manhole adaptor complete with
47 gasket and approved by the Engineer. No pipe joint in PVC pipe shall be placed within 10'
48 of the outside face of the manhole.
I
49
WEST MARINE VIEW DRIVE UTILITIES PAGE 93 OF 117 August 2018 I
WORK ORDER#3588
SPECIAL PROVISIONS
I
