PRODUCTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS <br /> 016300 -4 1 <br /> 6. GENERAL PRODUCT COMPLIANCE <br /> 6.1. General: Requirements for individual products are indicated in the contract <br /> documents; compliance with these requirements is in itself a contract requirement. <br /> These requirements may be specified in any one of several different specifying <br /> methods, or in any combination of these methods. The methods include the <br /> following: <br /> Descriptive <br /> Performance <br /> Compliance with Reference Standards <br /> Compliance with codes, graphic details,allowances, and similar provisions of <br /> the contract documents also have a bearing on the selection process. <br /> 6.2. Procedures for Selecting Products: The Contractor's options in selecting products are <br /> limited by requirements of the contract documents and governing regulations. They <br /> are not controlled by industry traditions or procedures experienced by the Contractor <br /> on previous construction projects. Required procedures include but are not limited to <br /> the following for the various indicated methods of specifying: <br /> 1. Single Product Name: Where only a single product indicated,unless the <br /> specification indicates possible consideration of other products. Advise the <br /> Architect/Engineer before proceeding,when it is discovered that the named <br /> product is not a reasonable or a feasible solution. Note "or equal" Section <br /> 6.2.2.1.below. <br /> 2. Two or More Product Names: Where two or more products or Manufacturers <br /> are named,provide one of the products named, at the Contractor's option. <br /> Exclude products that do not comply with specification requirements. Do not <br /> provide or offer to provide an unnamed product,unless the specification <br /> indicates possible consideration of other products. Advise the <br /> Architect/Engineer before proceeding where none of the named products <br /> comply with specification indicates possible consideration of other products. <br /> Advise the Architect/Engineer before proceeding where none of the named <br /> products comply with specification requirements, or are feasible for use. <br /> Note "or equal" Section 6.2.2.1. below. <br /> 1. "Or equal": Where products or manufacturers are specified by a single <br /> products names or two or more product names it is understood "or <br /> equal" follows thereafter per Owner's bidding conditions. Contractor <br /> shall comply with the contract document provisions concerning <br /> "substitutions"to obtain approval from the Architect/Engineer for the <br /> use of an unnamed product. It is the Contractor's responsibility to <br /> provide sufficient data to prove the substitution is equal in all <br /> respects.
