Work includes but is not limited to following: <br /> 1. Crushed rock installation <br /> 2. Asphalt concrete paving. <br /> 1.2 RELATED SECTIONS <br /> A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including and Supplementary Conditions and <br /> Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this section. Coordinate related work specified in <br /> other parts of the Project Manual,including but not limited to following: <br /> Section 32 1600—Concrete <br /> 1.3 REFERENCES <br /> WSDOT-APWA 2002 Standard Specifications for Road,Bridge,and Municipal Construction. <br /> Standard Plans WSDOT/APWA Standard Plans for Road, Bridge, and Municipal <br /> Construction. <br /> ASTM D1557 Methods of Test for Moisture-Density Relations of Soils, Using 10 lb (4.5 kg) <br /> Rammer and 18 In. (457 mm)Drop. <br /> APAW Designs and Specifications for Asphalt Concrete Pavements and Bases, 1990 <br /> Edition. <br /> 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION <br /> A. This work shall consist of one 2" course of plant mixed asphalt concrete placed on a prepared <br /> base of 4"+/- fractured rock in accordance with these specifications and conforms to the lines, <br /> grades,and typical cross-sections shown in the plans. <br /> 1.5 PROJECT SITE CONDITIONS <br /> A. Environmental Requirements: In accordance with referenced standard specifications and the <br /> following: <br /> 1. Do no paving in rain or when subgrade or base is wet or frozen. <br /> 2. Do not apply tack coats when temperature is below 50 degrees F. or when base is wet. <br /> 3. Apply asphalt concrete paving only when temperature is above 40 degrees and when <br /> base is dry. <br /> 1.6 DIMENSIONS AND LAYOUTS <br /> A. See Layout Drawing <br /> B. The Contractor is to notify the Owner's Representative immediately if underground utilities not <br /> shown on the Agency's record are encountered. <br /> 1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Contractor shall correct any work that exhibits aggregate separation and soft spots at no <br /> additional cost to the Owner. <br /> B. Repair cracks and unsatisfactory elevation irregularities immediately upon notification. <br /> C. Replace any paving true to grade and/or designed slope. <br /> ASPHALT 32 1216-1 <br />
