CASCADE HIGH SCHOOL SYNTHETIC TURF FIELD <br /> EVERETT PUBLIC SCHOOLS 09/12/2013 <br /> SECTION 32 1600—CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE <br /> PART 1 —GENERAL <br /> 1.1 Related Documents: <br /> A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General Conditions and Division 1 <br /> Specifications sections apply to this work. <br /> 1.2 Description of Work: <br /> A. Work in this section includes furnishing all materials,labor,equipment, and incidentals necessary <br /> to prepare,place, and finish work. <br /> 1.3 Related Work Specified Elsewhere: <br /> A. Section 32 1822-Infilled Synthetic Turf <br /> 1.4 Testing Laboratory: Testing laboratory will perform sampling and testing during concrete placement, as <br /> directed by Owner or Owner's representative. This testing does not relieve Contractor of the <br /> responsibility of providing concrete in compliance with specifications. Contractor shall perform tests as <br /> specified. Owner shall specify Test Laboratory and pay for tests. <br /> A. Sampling: ASTM C 172 <br /> B. Slump: ASTM C 143,one test for each load at point of discharge. <br /> C. Air Content: ASTM C 173,one for each set of compressive strength. <br /> D. Compressive strength: ASTM C 39,one set for each 50 cu. yds. Of fraction thereof of each class <br /> of concrete; one specimen tested at seven days, one tested at 14 days and one tested at 28 days, <br /> and one tested at a later date if required. <br /> 1.5 Protection: Do not place concrete during rain, unless adequate protection is provided and approval is <br /> obtained from Owner. Any concrete damaged by rain shall be removed and replaced by Contractor at no <br /> expense to Owner. <br /> PART 2—PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 Concrete Flatwork: All concrete shall have a compressive strength of 3,500 psi at 28 days with a <br /> —minimum slump of four inches. All concrete shall be air-entrained. <br /> A. Cement: Portland cement shall conform to the requirements of ASTM C-994, Type A. <br /> B. Concrete mix shall be six(6) sack water reducing ad-mixture. <br /> C. Aggregates: Concrete aggregates shall conform to the requirements of ASTM C-994,TYPE a <br /> D. Water: Clear potable water free from injurious amounts of oil, salts, alkali, organic matter or <br /> other deleterious substances. <br /> E. Air entrainment agents shall conform to ASTM C-260. Concrete will have 5-1/2% (plus or minus <br /> 1%)entrained air. Daren, Sika,or approved equal. <br /> 2.2 Concrete Footing: Concrete for post footings shall be Class "C" concrete. Concrete footings shall be <br /> neatly and evenly crowned slightly above finished grades and all concrete shall be cleaned from all posts. <br /> All concrete shall have a compressive strength of 2,500 psi at 28 days with a minimum slump of four <br /> inches.
