Before turf is installed, Synthetic Turf Installation Contractor will inspect the finish grade for his
II approval of the sub-base installation including planarity. General Contractor shall make his laser
equipment available for use by Synthetic Turf Installation Contractor if necessary.
1 3.3 INSTALLATION OF BASE SYSTEM FOR INFILL TURF
A. See Section 32 1800 Shock Pad.
M
3.4 INSTALLATION OF SYNTHETIC TURF
A. The Turf Project Superintendent shall thoroughly inspect all materials delivered to the site both for
quality and quantity to assure that the entire installation shall have sufficient material to maintain
proper mixing ratios.
IB. Refer to Brock Shock Pad installation instructions prior to installation.
C. Synthetic turf shall be loose laid across the field, stretched, and attached to the perimeter edge detail.
- Turf shall be of sufficient length to permit full cross-field installation. No head or cross seams will be
allowed in the playing field inside the playing field sidelines.
D. Seams shall be stitched or glued. All main turf fabric seams shall be transverse to the field direction;
i.e., run perpendicularly across the playing field. Seams shall be straight, flat, tight, and permanent
with no separation or fraying. If Contractor opts to stitch seams, only locking stitches shall be used.
Bag stitches will not be allowed.
E. No gluing shall be allowed when the air temperature is below 50 degrees.
F. Apply infill materials in numerous thin lifts using special broadcasting equipment. The turf shall be
raked and brushed properly as the mixture is applied. The infill material shall be installed to a depth of
about 1.5 to 1.75 inches in order to comply with initial Gmax standards.
3.5 SHOCK ABSORBANCY OF THE SYNTHETIC FIELD SYSTEM
A. The synthetic turf system installation, designed for multiple sport usage will be periodically tested for
n shock attenuation (G-max) properties in accordance with ASTM F 1936 and F355, Method A, per
frequency intervals and G-max compliance standards provided herein.
1. Test Locations
a. The installed system will be tested for Gmax at the locations defined in ASTM F 1936 as
modified with 2 additional locations for the soccer field at: 1)one soccer goalmouth and 2)
I one corner of a penalty box.
b. All test locations will be offset approximately 12-inches from any fabric seam, and all
subsequent re-testing will be performed at the exact same locations as previous test
locations for comparisons.
2. Test Frequency and G-max Compliance Standards:
a. The Synthetic Turf Contractor will arrange for and pay for the testing of the synthetic turf
field for G-max Average compliance: In addition to the initial G-max testing of the
installed field at, additional G-max testing is also required at Turf Contractor's expense as
follows:
INFILLED SYNTHETIC TURF 32 1822-7
