I City of Everett 01 3544 - 1 I Evergreen Branch Library Expansion 2017-008 SECTION 01 3544 - HAZARDOUS MATERIALS PROCEDURES I PART 1 - GENERAL I1.1 SUMMARY U A. Section Includes: Hazardous materials abatement, Under the Work of this Contract, including proper remediation of Asbestos Containing Materials, Lead remediation, Light Fixture Component recycling of fluorescent tubes containing mercury and proper I disposal of ballasts containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), as well as Biohazard pre-cleaning and Silica remediation prior to and during demolition, transportation and proper disposal of construction waste materials removed from the detached Duplex UBuilding located west of the Evergreen Branch Library at the subject site. B. Renovation, Selective Demolition and Expansion Work for the Evergreen Branch Library includes employer compliance with current federal, state and local health and I safety regulations for construction in the commercial building, Under the Work of the Contract. Other than methods used to minimize the creation of dust, prompt cleanup and employer compliance with current regulations to reduce the potential for worker I exposure to potential hazardous materials, no abatement has been scheduled for the Evergreen Branch Library building. The building materials surveyed by the Owner for work scheduled for the Evergreen Branch Library can be found under separate cover in Ithe Asbestos Good Faith Inspection, EBL, AET 3161.11, 04/25/17. 1.2 ASBESTOS REMEDIATION IA. The City of Everett (Owner) has surveyed buildings for the purpose of identifying asbestos containing materials. The final Asbestos Good Faith Inspection — Addendum I #1, dated August 30, 2017, identified asbestos containing materials for The Duplex Building. A copy is included with this specification. A written copy of this survey must be posted conspicuously at the job site. IB. The intent and extent of scope of work is identified in the Architectural Drawings and Project Manual and includes the following Asbestos Remediation Documents: 1. Specification: Section 02 8200 ASBESTOS REMEDIATION I 2. Drawing: HZ1.01 HAZMAT COVER SHEET- GENERAL NOTES and HZ1.10 HAZMAT DUPLEX FLOOR PLANS. I C. Remediation, including proper abatement, compliance monitoring, removal, and disposal of asbestos-containing materials are included under the Work of this Contract. I D. Conform to Authorities Having Jurisdiction for asbestos remediation including PSCAA, WISHA and EPA regulations. E. Claims or requests for additional work will not be accepted for any hidden friable or I non-friable asbestos containing materials identified during abatement and demolition.
