Ted Budden
From: Kevin Fagerstrom
Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2010 4:25 PM
To: Tony Lee; Ted Budden; Niels Tygesen
Cc: David Hall
Subject: FW: 7533 Lower Ridge Road
Gentlemen,
This house was built as a SFR back in 1993. It is my information that it was fairly traditional poured concrete foundation,
with an open dirt crawlspace, with a 2 story structure above. It is on a moderately steep slope, as you can see in Neils'
analysis below. In the complaint which we received from the neighbor, it was described that the "owner" dug out
hundreds of wheel barrows of dirt from inside the foundation and dumped the dirt somewhere down in the ravine
below.
The original report went to Ted and he conducted an inspection, but it was already too late. The work had already been
completed and he was not able to post a stop-work order. He did take numerous photographs documenting the illegal
work. Later the complaint was forwarded to my shop and we opened a case.
We have issued the owner a violation citation for the un-permitted work and the owner is now trying to do damage
control. He had submitted an "accessory dwelling unit" application which was initially approved, by Mr. Giffen. Later is
was discovered that the owner submitted a fraudulent occupancy statement in which he signed the notarized document
swearing that he resided there(a requirement of the ADU process). The information of the fraudulent document has
been given to Mr. Giffen and it is my understanding that he will be withdrawing that approval within the next few days.
The owner may have already received notification of this,as he has now apparently submitted for approval for just a
standard duplex.
My issues are two
1. Please take whatever the owner says with a slight bit of skepticism, his veracity has already shown to be in
question.
2. If the information of the "excavation" is true, then has the stability of the entire structure been compromised
and will additional engineering be required before the un-permitted work can be approved?
Normally, I might not get quite so excited about such a scenario, but I've been to the site and I am concerned about its'
viability, if the foundation is compromised.
Thanks, Kevin
__v
From: Tamra Gregory
Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2010 3:17 PM
To: Kevin Fagerstrom
Subject: FW: 7533 Lower Ridge Road
Kevin,
Here is the most recent email chain regarding the property at 7533 Lower Ridge Rd.
Tamra
Tamra J.
