I really appreciate it if you can clarify and OK some of the existing
conditions.
1. There are about '/ of the basement ceiling is lower because there is the strong support
(2X12)to the garage above in that area. The height between the floor and the ceiling in
this area is about 83.5 inches or about 0.5 inches lower than 7 feet(or 84 inches).
I was told that the building code of ceiling height for living space, such as bedroom, is 7
feet. The building code of ceiling height for other living space such as bathroom is 6 feet
8 inches (or 80 inches). According to these building codes of ceiling height, the majority
of the unit meet the building code of the ceiling height except small port of the basement
are about 0.5 inches short than the requirement of 7 feet. See comments of"Does not
meet minimum ceiling height"on drawing sheet 3. This area is within the Red line in the
figure shown below. It needs to tear almost everything apart and rebuild the floor and
walls in order to gain 0.5 inches ceiling height and it really beyond my financial ability
currently.
The areas in the red line are the subject area with lower finished ceiling in the basement
remodeled:
E
° IthKE Bathroom
Storage Bedroom
m Room
W/D
Opening
Bedroom Recreation Room with wet Bar
(with lower
ceiling) aadfFa findaw
