I communicate with Tony Lee and Jeff Heilman about this situation before. I will really
appreciate it if you can grant us to keep the existing ceiling height in this small area of the
basement.
2. As for the Red marks and comment of"Remove all cabinets in area formerly proposed
as kitchen" on drawing sheet 2, since we currently apply for recreation room with wet bar
in this area, There are total of 5 wall cabinets and I will remove all the wall cabinets
except one cabinet over hood to support the fan and cover the duct. I really appreciate it if
I can keep that wall cabinet and the floor cabinets which support the marble count top and
sink for the wet bar use. Refrigerator and dish washer are also for the recreation room and
wet bar use. Hope we agree on this for me to keep these items.
3. Does dish washer need to be included under Plumbing equipment in the construction
permit and its inspection record? I didn't see it in the list.
4. As for the red marks/comments of "Provide artificial light and mechanical ventilation
per R303 IRC"on drawing sheet 2, there is a big opening(about 5 feet wide) connecting
the Den to the recreation room almost in front of the window of the recreation room. Plus
there is a fan/hood across the recreation room. So there should be enough ventilation for
the Den according to my Designer at Design Lines, Inc. Otherwise, I would like to
change this room from Den to Storage Room so mechanical ventilation is not required to
minimize the cost of remodeling the basement. I can mark up the drawing if necessary
(see the figure above for reference). By the way, outside wall is cement foundation at this
area. Tell you the truth; I don't know exactly what"Den"means. It is just a name for that
room from the advice of other people.
5. Would you please kindly explain to me what the comment of"Fireblocking @10'-0"
O>C. Horiz. &Vertical" on Drawing sheet 3 means although there is marking/note of
"2x6 Blocking" at the same location originally.
6. We haven't gone beyond the footprint of the existing house for this basement
remodeling project and we keep this as a single family house. Would you please kindly
explain to me why there are Grading And Drainage requirements marked on Drawing
sheet 1 and why I need to get Public Works Permit(Include dealing with erosion control
and etc.)?
English is my 2nd language, so I write this letter before our meeting this Friday to help
our discussion. Thank you very much in advance for your explanation/clarification and
granting my special request or waiver.
Sincerely
Chun-sheng Wang
kk ) `
