The Evergreen Arboretum,though 55 years old, is still often overlooked by city and county marketing materials. Our mission is to create and maintain an inspirational arboretum and gardens accessible to all, internationally-acclaimed and locally enjoyed for its plant diversity,original art and educational opportunities. We have extensive sculpture throughout,some on loan from the city of Everett and others we have purchased and donated to the city.Master Gardeners of Snohomish County maintains their own garden within the arboretum. We offer docent tours,gardening classes and our popular Family Fun Event series. This summer we are partnering with the Everett Children's Museum, who will offer nature classes for kids. It's time for a new, comprehensive brochure to attract the large horticultural tour segment,guests who appreciate our expanded ADA accessible paths, seniors who travel during the school year and guests to our area who appreciate art,gardens and outdoor exercise. Our intent is to design and print 10,000 new brochures to replace our previous brochure designed nine years ago and out of print for three years.We will heavily distribute the brochure in a targeted campaign from May through October,2019. Our plan includes a digital version of the brochure to be available online,but that is under discussion. Initial distribution includes: • Snohomish County Tourism offices • Everett CC for distribution to visiting students • Hotel lobby displays • Supporting groups, like the North American Rock Garden Society national meeting in Pennsylvania,the Conifer Society meeting in Oregon and the Federated Garden Clubs meeting in Olympia Washington The May 4th kickoff event is being offered to celebrate the expansion of the arboretum with increased accessible paths,new gardens and to highlight our newest metal sculpture, "Siblings" by James Madison,artist and member of the Tulalip Tribe. We expect approximately 100 attendees. Though we are only seeking funds to assist with printing and mailing the brochure,this event provides us an opportunity to increase the reach of the new brochure,resulting in additional overnight stays.
