1 <br /> CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> Planing shall be performed in such a manner that the underlying pavement is ' <br /> not torn, broken, or otherwise damaged by the planing operation. The <br /> surface of the underlying pavement shall be slightly grooved or roughened <br /> sufficiently to ensure a bond when overlaid. All areas to be ground shall be <br /> completed with a grinder. The use of other methods must be approved by the <br /> Engineer. <br /> The planings shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be <br /> removed from the right-of-way. The planings may be utilized as RAP, within <br /> the requirements of Section 5-04.2 or 9-03.21. The Contractor shall <br /> immediately dispose of all other debris resulting from the planing operation in <br /> a Contractor-provided site off the right-of-way. <br /> Immediately after grinding, the Contractor must construct an asphalt <br /> transition on all traveled ways and exposed manholes, inlets, catch basins, <br /> monuments, valve boxes, and other structures on the street, regardless of <br /> depth in grinding. Asphalt transition must be removed prior to overlay. Cast <br /> iron structures left higher than 1-1/2" must be removed and steel plates <br /> installed to protect the opening and provide a suitable driving surface. <br /> After grinding, sweeping of roadway surfaces shall be immediate and must be <br /> overlayed within 72 hours. Sweeping of roadway surface is required prior to <br /> tack placement and paving. <br /> Sweepers following the grinding work will not be paid separately, and is <br /> incidental to bid item "Planing Bituminous Pavement (0 to 6" Deep)", per <br /> square yard. <br /> For mainline planing operations, the equipment shall have automatic controls, <br /> with sensors for either or both sides of the equipment. The controls shall be <br /> capable of sensing the proper grade from an outside reference line, or a mat- <br /> referencing device. The automatic controls shall also be capable of <br /> maintaining the desired transverse slope. The transverse slope controller <br /> shall be capable of maintaining the mandrel at the desired slope (expressed <br /> as a percentage) within plus or minus 0.1 percent. <br /> 5-04.4 Measurement <br /> Delete all paragraphs of 5-04.4 and substitute the following: <br /> Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br /> described in Division B — Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and <br /> Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 5-04.5 Payment <br /> Delete all paragraphs in 5-05.5 and substitute the following: I <br /> Payment for bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be <br /> as described in Division B — Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and <br /> Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> Supplement Division 5 of the Standard Specifications by adding the following: <br /> Alverson Stormwater Separation February 2019 <br /> WO No. -UP3660 Division 5—SURFACE TREATMENTS AND PAVEMENTS <br /> SP-148 <br />
