The Everett-Quilt Show Experience(EQS)is an event intended to <br /> honor quilters and celebrate the work they do,while educating the public on the art and skills of quilting. <br /> This event is a Pacific Northwest Regional Show with national quilt entries, professional judging and National <br /> speakers. We are encouraging an extended stay by designing events that bridge several days(our"6 ways"campaign <br /> is listed below). Our website offers linked hotel, restaurant and other attraction information.We have secured client <br /> workspace in the hotels for weekend retreat ideas. <br /> `6 Ways to Enjoy The Everett - Guil+Show Experience': This event has several unique components that will <br /> attract a variety of guests: <br /> 1. Thursday Opening Night Gala,where guests will see exclusive presentations by individual quiltmakers <br /> describing their techniques and work. Hors d'oeuvres, decadent desserts and music, to enhance this event, is <br /> still being confirmed at the writing of this grant. <br /> 2. Bus Tour to La Conner Quilting and Fiber Arts Museum and several activities <br /> 3. The Quilt Show will be open Friday and Saturday from 10:00-5:00, view quilts, participate and listen to <br /> demonstrations, attend classes and shopping at our Stitches Marketplace with an intentional variety of <br /> vendors. <br /> a. Community Service Projects explained and shared. Our donations currently go to the Domestic <br /> Violence Services of Snohomish County and The American Heroes Project. <br /> b. Children's activities include a scavenger hunt, making a Bean Bag, or making a mug rug. There will be <br /> opportunities for children to attend some classes for free. <br /> c. Open call for entries allows the public, at large,to display their art.All other quilt shows in the Puget <br /> Sound area are member only shows. Entries can be in a judged or non-judge category. Judged <br /> entries receive feedback. <br /> 4. Friday night Keynote Speaker Evening_Katie Petersen Seattle modern quilting instructor and author of <br /> Quilting Modern for a trunk show of her colorful quilts. She enjoys teaching others her approach in merging <br /> improvisational quilting techniques with modern and traditional design in her Seattle studio and nationally.As <br /> well, EQS is hosting the"Double Trouble"workshop taught by Katie on Saturday. Ted Hoffman of Clothworks <br /> Fabric Company, Seattle,WA. American Made Brand 100%cotton shirting is grown, spun,woven and dyed in <br /> America. Ted will show you his journey of American Farm to Fabric Movement.A cause for celebration! <br /> Beautiful soft cotton in 75 colors. Ann Lindquist and David Michaels-flutist and harpist will grace the evening <br /> with a mini concert. <br />
