halls or dancing schools opened for instruction or entertain- ment on Sunday. No public dances , dance halls , or dancing schools shall be conducted later than 1 o 'clock A.M. ; but the Chief of Police shall have authority to issue special permits to conduct public dances to a later hour, to be deter- mined by him. Section 5 Inspectors--To Have Free Access to Public Dances : Police Officers and Inspectors in the Health Department shall always have free access to public dances , dance halls and dancing schools , for the purpose of inspection and to enforce com- pliance with the provisions of this chapter. Section 6 Dancing Master--Permit--Fee--Revocation: No person shall engage in the business of dancing master as in this chapter defined, without first having obtained a permit so to do. Such permit may be issued upon payment of an annual fee of $5 . 00 and shall be granted only to persons known to be of good moral character. Section 7 Jitney Dance--Prohibited: It shall be unlawful to conduct, operate or carry on any so-called "Jitney Dance" ; and further it shall be unlawful to conduct, operate or carry on any public dance wherein and whereby any female person shall receive any compensation of any kind for dancing with any male person, provided, however, that nothing in this chapter shall prohibit the employment of not to exceed (1) female instructor in any dancing school. Section 8 Dancing Master Licensee--Privileges : Every permit issued to an applicant as provided in Section 6 shall entitle the holder thereof to engage in business as a dancing master in or about dancing schools or dance halls as provided in this chapter. Section 9 Unlawful to Employ Unlicensed Personnel: It shall be unlaw- ful for any person or corporation conducting or carrying on any dancing school or dance hall to employ any dancing master as herein defined, who shall not hold and exhibit a valid outstanding permit as herein required. Section 10 Fraternal Orders--Exempt: The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to fraternal orders conducting dances upon the premises occupied by them where admission is restricted to members of such orders and the families of members of said orders . Section 11 Permit for Individual Dances--Requirement: No permit for individual dances shall be issued to any person, firm or corporation, until the floor space license fee for the public dance hall wherein such individual dance is to be held shall have first been paid.
