halls or dancing schools opened for instruction or entertain- <br /> ment on Sunday. No public dances , dance halls , or dancing <br /> schools shall be conducted later than 1 o 'clock A.M. ; but <br /> the Chief of Police shall have authority to issue special <br /> permits to conduct public dances to a later hour, to be deter- <br /> mined by him. <br /> Section 5 <br /> Inspectors--To Have Free Access to Public Dances : Police <br /> Officers and Inspectors in the Health Department shall always <br /> have free access to public dances , dance halls and dancing <br /> schools , for the purpose of inspection and to enforce com- <br /> pliance with the provisions of this chapter. <br /> Section 6 <br /> Dancing Master--Permit--Fee--Revocation: No person shall <br /> engage in the business of dancing master as in this chapter <br /> defined, without first having obtained a permit so to do. <br /> Such permit may be issued upon payment of an annual fee of <br /> $5 . 00 and shall be granted only to persons known to be of <br /> good moral character. <br /> Section 7 <br /> Jitney Dance--Prohibited: It shall be unlawful to conduct, <br /> operate or carry on any so-called "Jitney Dance" ; and further <br /> it shall be unlawful to conduct, operate or carry on any <br /> public dance wherein and whereby any female person shall <br /> receive any compensation of any kind for dancing with any <br /> male person, provided, however, that nothing in this chapter <br /> shall prohibit the employment of not to exceed (1) female <br /> instructor in any dancing school. <br /> Section 8 <br /> Dancing Master Licensee--Privileges : Every permit issued <br /> to an applicant as provided in Section 6 shall entitle the <br /> holder thereof to engage in business as a dancing master <br /> in or about dancing schools or dance halls as provided in <br /> this chapter. <br /> Section 9 <br /> Unlawful to Employ Unlicensed Personnel: It shall be unlaw- <br /> ful for any person or corporation conducting or carrying on <br /> any dancing school or dance hall to employ any dancing master <br /> as herein defined, who shall not hold and exhibit a valid <br /> outstanding permit as herein required. <br /> Section 10 <br /> Fraternal Orders--Exempt: The provisions of this chapter <br /> shall not apply to fraternal orders conducting dances upon <br /> the premises occupied by them where admission is restricted <br /> to members of such orders and the families of members of said <br /> orders . <br /> Section 11 <br /> Permit for Individual Dances--Requirement: No permit for <br /> individual dances shall be issued to any person, firm or <br /> corporation, until the floor space license fee for the public <br /> dance hall wherein such individual dance is to be held shall <br /> have first been paid. <br />
