Section 11: <br /> Examination Required: Before any application is finally <br /> approved by the City Clerk, the applicant shall be required <br /> to pass a satisfactory examination as to his knowledge of <br /> the City and to show that he has a current motor vehicle <br /> operator's permit issued by the State of Washington. <br /> Section 12 : <br /> Temporary Permit: The City Clerk, upon approval by the <br /> Chief of Police, shall issue a temporary permit for such <br /> period of time not to exceed thirty (30) days as the Chief of <br /> Police shall designate, and such temporary permit shall <br /> have stamped thereon the date of termination. <br /> Upon approval of an application as hereinabove provided <br /> for a for-hire driver's permit, the City Clerk shall issue <br /> a permit to the applicant which permit shall bear the name , <br /> address , age, signature and photograph of the applicant. <br /> Such permit shall be in effect for the remainder of the <br /> calendar year. <br /> Section 13: <br /> Permit-Display Required: Every driver licensed under this <br /> chapter shall post his driver' s permit in such a place as <br /> to be in full view of all passengers while such driver is <br /> operating a vehicle for hire. <br /> Section 14 : <br /> Equipment Required: Each vehicle for hire shall be equip- <br /> ped and maintained at all times by the operator thereof for <br /> safe and lawful operation and in accordance with the laws <br /> of the City of Everett and the State of Washington and shall <br /> be furnished with such equipment as the Chief of Police shall <br /> deem necessary for such safe operation. Any vehicle for hire <br /> may be inspected at any reasonable time by the Chief of Police <br /> or his representative. The Chief of Police shall, on application, <br /> and may periodically inspect each vehicle as to safety and <br /> cleanliness . The Chief of Police will insure compliance with <br /> the City and State law in regard to the following equipment <br /> of each vehicle. <br /> (A) Shock absorbers ; <br /> (B) Tires (blowout-proof, puncture-proof, if available, <br /> adequate tread for non-skid operation throughout the inspection <br /> period) ; <br /> (C) Exits (each vehicle shall have at least two exits <br /> from the compartments where the person is carried) ; <br /> (D) Picks and jacks for convalescent coach vehicles; <br /> (E) Wheelchair-retaining locks for convalescent coach <br /> vehicles . <br /> (F) Security of all auxiliary equipment; <br /> (G) Safety belts . <br />
