Classified positions <br /> 3 shall be considered as all positions except those held by <br /> 4 Appointive Officers or Day Laborers . Classified positions <br /> 5 shall be filled in the following manner : <br /> 6 1. An appointment of one of the three top ranked appli- <br /> 7 cants on an appropriate certified eligibility list. <br /> 8 2 . An acting or temporary appointment. Such appoint- <br /> 9 ments in the non-uniformed City service shall be for a <br /> 10 period not exceeding 90 days, subject to two extensions <br /> 11 of additional periods not exceeding 30 days each when <br /> 12 granted, in necessary cases , by the Personnel Officer <br /> 13 and concurred with by the Civil Service Commission <br /> 14 upon satisfactory written justification by the de- <br /> 15 partment head and only until a regular appointment <br /> 16 can be made . Acting or temporary appointments in <br /> 17 uniformed City service may be made for a period not <br /> 18 exceeding 6 months , subject to extensions of addi- <br /> 19 tional periods not exceeding 30 days each in accord- <br /> 20 ance with the above procedure . No temporary or act- <br /> 21 ing appointment shall continue beyond a 30-day period <br /> 22 after the certification of an appropriate eligibil- <br /> 23 ity list of three or more names . <br /> 24 Section 5 : Eligibility Lists . After an examination, an <br /> 25 eligibility list shall be prepared and kept available. The <br /> 26 scores used to establish the list shall include veterans <br /> 27 credit if applicable under RCW 41 . 04 . Whenever identical <br /> 28 ratings are earned, as the result of an open and competitive <br /> 29 examination, they shall be considered as equal in rank. When- <br /> 30 ever identical ratings result from a promotional examination, <br /> 31 seniority shall be the deciding factor in determining the <br /> 32 <br /> ranking of eligibles . <br />
