Page 5- <br /> 1 Open and competitive eligibility lists shall be valid for <br /> 2 one calendar year from the date of certification. Promotional <br /> 3 eligibility lists shall be valid for three calendar years from <br /> 4 date of certification. An open and competitive eligibility <br /> 5 list may be abolished when fewer than three names remain on it. <br /> 6 When fewer than three names remain on a promotional eligibility <br /> 7 list, or when mutually agreed upon as being necessary for the <br /> 8 efficient operation of a Department, another examination may be <br /> 9 administered with the resultant eligible names added onto the <br /> 10 current list, with those from the prior examination remaining <br /> 11 at the top of the composite list until the time during which <br /> 12 they are valid expires . Anyone on an eligibility list who de- <br /> 13 clines an appointment shall be removed from the list, subject <br /> 14 to the descretion of the Personnel Officer . <br /> 15 Acceptance of a temporary or acting appointment to any position <br /> 16 shall not cause an eligible to lose his standing on an eligi:- <br /> 17 bility list. <br /> 18 Section 6 : Examination. The examination process for <br /> 19 employment with the City of Everett must be practical, im- <br /> 20 partial and must satisfactorily measure the applicant ' s <br /> 21 ability and fitness to fill the position for which a particular <br /> 22 examination is given. <br /> 23 Section 7 : Recruitment and Applications . Public announce- <br /> 24 ments for all examinations shall be conspicuously posted in <br /> 25 the City Hall two weeks prior to the final filing date for <br /> 26 open and competitive examinations and four weeks prior for <br /> 27 promotional examinations . Announcements may be posted else- <br /> 28 where and copies shall be mailed to interested applicants and <br /> 29 to each labor organization recognized by the City. Other <br /> 30 appropriate forms of public notice may be used to attract <br /> 31 qualified applicants . <br /> 32 The Personnel Officer has the authority to establish re- <br />
