Fact: The owners have not added any new loads to the existing structure. The owners would like to
replace existing siding with new contemporary style siding to match existing size.
Is it the position of the City of Everett that the "unsound" provision refers to the limited capacity of the
post and pier foundation to resist seismic loading? Just about every existing house in the city of
Everett which was built from before the turn of the century until after World War 2 potentially has a
similar post and pier foundation design.
Last year we helped permit 2 houses, 2417 Chestnut Ave and 2116 Rockefeller Ave. Both of these
residences went thru a minor alteration similar to or greater than our subject property and none were
updated with a new reinforced foundation. See attached pictures.
Does the city require the addition of any new shearwalls in the superstructure? If the siding is to be
replaced, will the city require the addition of ply shear panels?
The owners are awaiting your response and they are also hopeful you will understand the financial
hardship imposed by having to provide a new reinforced concrete foundation.
Respecfully
Michael Valiente
Advance Remodeling Solutions,LLC.
206 427-352
apdi92@outlook.com
2/
