Fact: The owners have not added any new loads to the existing structure. The owners would like to <br /> replace existing siding with new contemporary style siding to match existing size. <br /> Is it the position of the City of Everett that the "unsound" provision refers to the limited capacity of the <br /> post and pier foundation to resist seismic loading? Just about every existing house in the city of <br /> Everett which was built from before the turn of the century until after World War 2 potentially has a <br /> similar post and pier foundation design. <br /> Last year we helped permit 2 houses, 2417 Chestnut Ave and 2116 Rockefeller Ave. Both of these <br /> residences went thru a minor alteration similar to or greater than our subject property and none were <br /> updated with a new reinforced foundation. See attached pictures. <br /> Does the city require the addition of any new shearwalls in the superstructure?
