8-20.3(14) Signal Systems (PART B) These Special Provisions are based on WSDOT <br /> Northwest Region requirements and apply to all work completed on the following bid <br /> items: <br /> "SR 527 at 196th Street SE Traffic Signal Modifications, Complete.""SR 527 at <br /> 164th Street SE Temporary System AND Traffic Signal Modifications, Complete," <br /> which shall include the following two systems: <br /> "SR 527 at 164th Street SE Temporary Traffic Signal System, Complete." <br /> "SR 527 at 164th Street SE Traffic Signal Modifications, Complete." <br /> "SR 527 at 153rd Street SE Traffic Signal Modifications, Complete." <br /> "SR 96 (132nd Street SE) at 16th Avenue SE Traffic Signal Modifications, <br /> Complete." <br /> "SR 96 (132nd Street SE) at Dumas Road/Elgin Road Traffic Signal <br /> Modifications, Complete." <br /> Section 8-20.3(8) is supplemented with the following: <br /> Temporary Video Detection System <br /> Temporary video detection systems shall be completely installed and made operational <br /> prior to any associated induction loop being disabled, to the extent feasible as described <br /> in the Plans and as directed by the Engineer. <br /> 8-20.3(14)B Signal Heads <br /> In Section 8-20.3(14)B, the first paragraph is supplemented with the following: <br /> Signal Heads Installation with Back Plates <br /> Signal heads shall be installed with back plates. <br /> Where the yellow reflective tape is applied, the application surface of the back plate shall <br /> be cleaned, degreased with isopropyl alcohol and dried prior to application of the <br /> sheeting. <br /> 8-20.3(14)C Induction Loop Vehicle Detectors <br /> In Section 8-20.3(14)C, Items 2 and 11 and the last two sentences of Item 4 are deleted. <br /> Section 8-20.3(14)C is supplemented with the following: <br /> Round Loops <br /> Round loops shall be constructed in accordance with the following requirements: <br /> 1. Loop conductor and lead in cable shall conform to these Special Provisions. <br /> 2. Round sawcuts shall be six feet in diameter and shall be constructed using <br /> equipment designed for cutting round loops. The equipment shall use a concave, <br /> diamond-segmented blade. The sawcuts shall be normal to the pavement <br /> surface and shall be a minimum of 0.25 inches wide. The sawcut depth shall be a <br /> minimum of 2 5/8 inches and a maximum of three inches measured at any point <br /> along the perimeter, except on bridge decks. Other methods of constructing the <br /> round sawcut, such as anchoring a router or flat blade saw, will not be allowed. <br /> Swift Green Line—Corridor Stations Special Provisions SP135 <br /> May 2017 <br />
