The original permit of 1978 and remodel permit of 1987 each show the occupancy type as B-2 and construction type as V-1 hr and did not include Assembly. No other permits could be found that would have changed the occupancy type to include assembly within the building. The included, approved plans from 1978 clearly show that the occupancy type was A-3. Due to this submission, the assembly occupancy is accepted as existing and lawful. Section 102.6 Response: Noted. 2. The classrooms have an occupant load factor of 15 assigned to them. There is an instance on each floor where two rooms have a partition divider separating the rooms.When the partition is open, the two rooms combine their occupant load. This situation on each floor creates an assembly use with an occupant load greater than 50 which would require occupant load signs, exit signs, egress lighting, door swing changes and panic hardware for the rooms. A. As the spaces are noted as `classrooms'it may be more appropriate to assign an occupant load of 20 to the rooms.As a result, each set of combined rooms would have an occupant load of less than 50 and would not be considered assembly spaces but Group B Occupancies. Sections 303.1.2 and 1004.1.2 Response: Spaces labeled as "classrooms" have been assigned an occupant load of 20 SF per person (net). See Life Safety Plans 1 &2 on Sheet G001. Occupancy Plans 3 &4 have be added to indicate B occupancy areas.
