Field cut threads shall be protected and damaged galvanizing repaired <br /> per the conduit manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> B. Contractor is to provide all new electrical raceways and conduit up the existing poles t <br /> from existing handhole locations to the new luminaires located on the existing poles. <br /> Remove all existing conduit,raceway,attachments, and items associated with the existing <br /> fixtures, crossarms/mounting brackets, and electrical control wire bundles. I <br /> C. Conduit used in underground runs shall be Schedule 40 heavy wall rigid PVC,UL <br /> labeled with fittings of the same material Provide solvent welding of all underground <br /> fittings,joints, connectors,etc. <br /> D. The conduits shall be capped during construction by means of manufactured seals to <br /> prevent entrance of water and debris. The conduits shall be cleaned before pulling of the <br /> wire. Spare conduits shall include a nylon pull rope with 200-pound minimum tensile <br /> strength. <br /> E. Locator tape shall be provided for all electrical conduit runs. Color shall be red/silver in 111 <br /> color and shall be 3"in width. <br /> F. All conduit shall be bedded in 4"of clean sand for any new conduit buried to complete t <br /> the job. <br /> 2.06 HANDHOLES AND ELECTRICAL BOXES , <br /> A. Junction Boxes for the underground circuit runs shall be composite material with bolt <br /> down cover designed to withstand a 20,000-pound static load. The boxes shall be <br /> suitable for use in driveway,parking lot and road shoulder applications that may be <br /> subject too occasional,non-deliberate heavy vehicles. Covers shall be labeled"Electric". <br /> The boxes shall be as manufactured by Christy Concrete Products or similar. The <br /> handhole shall be similar in size to WSDOT J-1 la,Type II or III and in accordance with111 <br /> the following table. <br /> WSDOT Type Composite Type Size <br /> II -(Christy) FL3OBOX18/FL3OT Box/Cover 14"x 24"x 18" 111 <br /> III -(Christy) FL36BOX18/FL36T Box/Cover 17"x 30"x 22" <br /> B. Each conduit entering the box shall be neatly upswept and shall terminate not less than 6 <br /> inches or more than 10 inches below the lid. <br /> C. All junction boxes shall be set on a 6-inch free draining, compacted crushed rock gravel I <br /> base. All junction boxes shall be covered with plastic and buried 18 inches below grade. <br /> Provide dimensions and survey points of all junction boxes. <br /> D. Install conduits into the junction boxes and pedestal foundations with bell ends.
