EXCEPT - vents for water heaters and fuel gas piping for any appliance <br /> may also be classified as a portion of a mechanical installation if regulated <br /> by code and if so, shall be excluded from the provisions of this code. " <br /> Section 11: That there is hereby added to Chapter 2, Section 201, of <br /> the Uniform Plumbing Code herein adopted, a paragraph (k) which shall read <br /> as follows: <br /> "(k) Notwithstanding any other provision of this code, Acrylonitrile - <br /> Butadiene - Styrene (ABS) and Polyvinyl - Chloride (PVC) Pipe and Fittings <br /> may be used for Drains, Wastes and Vents (DWV) above ground only in <br /> single family dwellings not over two stories in height. Whenever reference <br /> is made to Product Standards (PS) or Installation Standards (IS) which are <br /> less restrictive in nature than similar requirements of this subsection, the <br /> more restrictive requirements of this subsection shall prevail. <br /> ABS - DWV pipe and fittings shall meet the requirements specified in <br /> Product Standard No. PS-17-66 as published by the International Association <br /> of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), 5032 Alhambra Avenue, Los <br /> Angeles, California 90032. <br /> ABS-DWV shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of Installation <br /> Standard No. IS-5-66 as published by IAPMO. <br /> PVC-DWV shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of <br /> Installation Standard No. IS-9-68 as published by IAPMO. <br /> Section 12: That Chapter 2, Section 203, of the Uniform Plumbing Code is <br /> hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Sec. 203 - Use of Copper Tubing <br /> (a) Copper tube or copper pipe shall not be used for underground <br /> drainage and vent piping. <br /> (b) Copper tube for above ground drainage and vent piping shall have <br /> a weight of not less than that of copper drainage tube Type D. W. V. <br /> (c) Copper tube for water piping shall have a weight of not less than that <br /> of copper water tube Type L. <br /> (d) In addition to the required incised marking, all copper tubing shall <br /> be marked by means of a continuous and indelibly colored stripe at least <br /> one quarter (1/4) inch in width as follows: <br /> Type K, green; Type L, blue; <br /> Type M, red; Type DWV, yellow <br /> (e) No copper tubing shall be used for gas piping. <br /> (f) Ferrous metal fittings shall not be used on copper water piping. <br /> Section 13: That Chapter 8, Section 807, of the Uniform Plumbing Code <br /> herein adopted, is hereby amended to read as follows <br /> "Sec. 807 - Waterproofing of Openings <br /> Joints at the roof around pipes, ducts or other appurtenances shall be made <br /> watertight by the use of lead, neoprene, or copper bottleg flashings either <br /> counterflashed or turned over top edge to insure a watertight joint. Exterior <br /> wall openings shall be made watertight. <br /> Page 6 <br />
