Section 14: That Chapter 9, Section 910, of the Uniform Plumbing Code <br /> herein adopted is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Sec. 910 - Plumbing Fixtures Required <br /> Every building or separate part thereof, in which people congregate, live, <br /> sleep or work must have a room or rooms containing one (1) or more water closets. <br /> Each dwelling house, apartment tenement or flat must have at least one water <br /> closet, one sink and one bath for each family living in such dwelling house, <br /> apartment, tenement or flat; provided, that if more than ten persons live in any <br /> such dwelling house, apartment, tenement or flat, there shall be one additional <br /> water closet for each ten additional persons or fraction thereof. <br /> Factories, shops, stores, restaurants, office buildings shall have at least one <br /> water closet for each twenty-four (24) persons or fraction thereof, of each sex. Water <br /> closets for the different sexes must be entirely separate and plainly marked and <br /> further, water closets must be located in an accessible and convenient place on the <br /> premises. <br /> Schools, theaters, auditoriums, dormitories, warehouses, workshops, <br /> loft buildings, foundries, mills and similar establishments shall conform to the <br /> minimum plumbing facilities requirement of Appendix 'C' of this Code and each <br /> shall furnish separate facilities for each sex. " <br /> Section 15: That Chapter 10, Section 1008, of the Uniform Plumbing Code <br /> as herein adopted, shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> "Sec. 1008 - Installation, Inspection, Testing <br /> (a) Installation. All water piping shall be adequately supported to the <br /> satisfaction of the Administrative Authority. Burred ends shall be reamed to the <br /> full bore of the pipe. Changes in direction shall be made by the appropriate use <br /> of fittings. All such piping, equipment, appurtenances and devices shall be <br /> installed in a workmanlike manner in conformity with the provisions and intent <br /> of this Code. <br /> (b) Water service pipes or any underground water pipes, shall not be <br /> run or laid in the same trench with non-metallic building sewer or drainage piping, <br /> except as provided in this section. <br /> The water service pipe may be placed in the same trench with such <br /> building drain and building sewer provided both of the following conditions are met: <br /> The bottom of the water service pipe, at all points, shall be at <br /> least twelve (12) inches above the top of the sewer line. <br /> The water service pipe shall be placed on a solid shelf excavated <br /> at one side of the common trench. <br /> No water piping shall be installed within any concrete slab or in the <br /> ground under a concrete slab within a building. EXCEPTION When necessary due <br /> to structural conditions, water piping, may be installed in chases, sleeves, ducts, <br /> or surrounded in a bed of clean washed sand of three (3) inch coverage or protected <br /> by an approved pipe wrapping material. <br /> (c) All water distributing systems shall be protected from water hammer <br /> by the installation of air chambers or approved water hammer arresters. <br /> Page 7 <br />
