• <br /> Walls end Orersi es. <br /> Side end end walls of fire-resistive superstructures shall be of <br /> reinforced concrete not less these eight inches thick or the equivalent. <br /> Cargo doors shall haves fire-resistive quelities e ou.a l to e standard <br /> fire door for fire wall openings; doors shall be capable of being <br /> closed by one men. Jet intervals of •npprc simatcly 200 feet along <br /> exterior walls, there shall be a dwarf or "smash" door designated <br /> by suitable signs for the use of wetchmen, firemen and workmen. <br /> These doorways and all other openings In the exterior wells shall be <br /> provided.witn doors or windows of a type suit_; :le. for protection <br /> against the degree ee of exposure that may exist, :Aa determined by the <br /> Chief of: the Fire Depaartrnent. but in all cases standard protection <br /> shall be provided for openings exposed within 30 feet by structures <br /> (not vessels). Fire doors end windows shall conform to the Standard <br /> for the Installation of Fire Doors .end •vVindows. (Nr Pt No. 80, 1968) . <br /> B. Decks . <br /> The pier deck of fire-resistive superstructures shall be of con- <br /> struction of not less than four (4) hour fire resistance rating and the <br /> decks above the pier deck shall be of constructien of three (3) hour <br /> fire resistance rating. Such decks shall be made thoroughly v.,:ter- <br /> proof and pitched to a slope of at least one inch in 20 feet. Decks <br /> shell be arranged to carry off through approved scuppers or drains. <br /> or by other suitable means, excess water deposited as a result of <br /> fire extinguishing operations. <br /> C. Cclemns and Girders. <br /> Where steel columns and girders of fire-resistive superstructures <br /> are used, steel shall be protected by concrete or other fire-resistive <br /> material. Fireproofing of columns, girders end other supporting <br /> members shell be of such type end thickness as to provide a fire <br /> resistance rating of four (4) hours. The fire proofing on columns shall <br /> be protected against damage by traffic by substantial steel battens or <br /> casings not less than six feet high. <br /> D. Roof. <br /> The roof and roof supports cf fire-resistive superstructures shall <br /> be of reinforced concrete, protected steel or other fire resistant <br /> material of such type and thickness as to provide a fire resistance <br /> rating of four (4) hours for supporting members and three (3) hours <br /> for the roof. <br /> E. Curtain Boards or Draft estops. <br /> Certain boards or draft stops of fire-resistive superstructures <br /> constructed of noncombustible materiel shall be located between fire <br /> walls at intervals not exceeding ICO feet. when construction permits, <br /> the curtain boards shall be carried down to the lower chord of the <br /> roof trusses. lo.stallatior of curtain boards shall not be less then that <br /> required by Standard for the Irsteliatioe of Sprinkler Systems (NFPA <br /> No. 13, 1968) <br /> Ordinance -6- <br />
