Dr. Vablais has extensive experience evaluating applicants to a variety of fire, police and <br /> other public safety positions. <br /> Dr.Vablais received her MBA from the University of Washington's Executive program in 2000 and her doctoral <br /> degree in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University in 2007. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the <br /> varied presentation of psychopathy in female offenders received an award from the Society for the Scientific <br /> Study of Psychopathy. She has extensive experience in forensic assessment which she gained working for the <br /> Maryland Department of Public Safety and the Maryland Department of Health& Mental Hygiene. Prior to <br /> returning to Washington in 2011,she worked as a psychologist and the Director of Mental Health for the Anne <br /> Arundel County Detention Center in Annapolis, Maryland. From 2011—2015, she worked on the executive <br /> leadership team at Fairfax Hospital, an acute crisis stabilization inpatient facility.She has provided expert <br /> witness testimony in both Maryland and Washington for matters including competency to stand trial, <br /> determining criminal responsibility and involuntary civil commitment. She holds membership in the <br /> International Association of Chiefs of Police—Psychological Services Section. She is currently licensed in <br /> She is currently licensed in Washington, Oregon,Alaska, California, Idaho,Washington DC and Maryland. <br /> She joined PSS in 2015. She is also an associate member of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police <br /> Chiefs and is a member of the North Sound Metro SWAT CNT team. <br /> C. Describe your experience in diagnosis of first respondents and secondary trauma. <br /> Our team has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating first responders. Dr. Vablais spent many years in <br /> direct clinical care diagnosing and treating all types of psychiatric diagnoses, including diagnoses or PSTD and <br /> related concerns. During both pre-employment and FFDE evaluations, individuals are screened for any past or <br /> current psychopathology. When appropriate, particularly in FFDE evaluations, psychiatric diagnoses will be <br /> assigned. <br /> D. Describe your experience with Public Safety psychological testing and evaluation. Include any specific experience <br /> working with firefighters. <br /> Our team has extensive experience working with fire departments in Washington State, California,Alaska, <br /> Washington, DC, and Virginia. In our decades of combined experience we have conducted over 7,000 pre- <br /> employment evaluations of firefighter applicants throughout the U.S. <br /> In addition to our evaluation experience, Drs. Mike and Ryan Roberts are co-authors of two of the most widely <br /> used psychological screening reports for assessing firefighter applicants. Notably,the two test reports,the CPI <br /> and PAI Police and Public Safety Reports,are the only selection instruments based on norms derived from fire <br /> applicants. Drs. Mike and Ryan Roberts instruct other psychologists on the use of these instruments for fire and <br /> other public safety screening through the country. <br /> E. Describe your forensic psychology skills and experience. <br /> From 2003 until 2011, Dr.Vablais trained and worked in correctional and/or forensic settings where assessing <br /> threat and risk were part of her daily duties <br /> In her role working as a staff psychologist for the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DHMH), and <br /> later as a contractor for DHMH, Dr.Vablais conducted structured risk assessments that included a standard test <br /> battery,generally including the MMPI-2, MCMI-III, PCL-R,the Violence Risk Appraisal Guide (VRAG) and the HCR- <br /> 20. She also taught structured risk assessment to Fielding Graduate University and to practicum students while <br /> PSS/LEPS PLLC 6 <br />
